  Server Upgrade

Pimped the server a little this christmas… 🙂

From this:

Old messy box

To this:

"New" flashy server!

Transfering from old software raid-5 array to new hardware raid-5 array:

Faster! FASTER!

13 drives connected at once and connectors for more!

Took a while to transfere all 4TiB of data to the new array, but it went without a hickup with the help of rsync.

Specs:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
  • ASUS P5G43T-M PRO w/2GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM (more RAM as soon as I get my hands on two decent 4GB ssticks)
  • 250GB 2.5″ SATA II system drive
  • 5x Seagate Barracuda® 3TB drives in a raid-5 array
  • HighPoint RocketRAID 2720 8P SAS III controller
  • Intel Pro/1000CT PCIe Desktop Adapter (yes, it’s a desktop adapter but does the trick and besides… the server one costs four times as much)
  • Corsair CX600 power
  • Fractal Design Arc Mini
